Going out to dinner on mushies??

Recommended Posts

My surgeon specifically told me to avoid Pasta as it can expand in your pouch. I just went out to dinner with my daughter (I was banded on the 4th) and am at the tail end of mushies/starting soft. I ordered a chicken quaesadilla. I basically scraped out the cheese, chicken and veggies, cut/mashed it with a fork, took super small bited and chewed A LOT before swallowing! It was fine and very satisfying. Of course I could only eat 1/4 of it!

Maybe they'll be quiche or crab cake??/

When I was on mushies I went out to eat with my family several times. I ate mashed potatoes a few times, but the real treat was manicotti. Just open the shell and eat the cheese inside with the marinara sauce. Very yummy. I also at a cheese enchilada the same way, just avoiding the tortilla. Most restaurants are willing to let you order a la carte. I ordered just one piece of manicotti or one enchilada, or just a side of mashed potatoes. It was usually about 2 to 3 dollars. My husband tells me I'm a cheap date now. He really means it in a nice way.

Hello,

For mushie times, post op and after fills________________ At mexican, I get refried Beans with salsa.

At seafood I have a crab cake.

Anywhere Soup, eggs or mashed potatoes work.

Good Journey,

Thanks! I was looking at the menu and they do have crabcakes.

What about something like chicken noodle Soup or another soup with soft chunks?

I was invited to go out to dinner while on mushies. Any ideas what I could order? I don't think there will be eggs. Is Pasta of any kind considered mushy?

Doctor told me no Pasta or bread because they swell when they get wet. I went out on Mushies and ate Soup, broiled fish, and mashed potatoes. All of them are soft.

The Soup would be fine just be absolutely sure the chunks are soft and that when you put it in your mouth you chew or mushy it up really good before you swallow. When I was on the mushies and went out, I loved the crab cakes, mashed potatoes and I also ordered peas and just took my fork and mushed them up real good before I ate them.

I had stuffed shells that I "unstuffed" and 1 meatball that I mashed to death!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
