WOW! I had to have a complete un-fill today

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have to have this done?

I have been following the instructions closely...even more so the past month.... and I had to have an unfill today.

He said it was weird because as soon as he took it all out everything looked normal.... and usually that is not the case?

So sorry you had to unfill....what lead up to it? It happened to me a few weeks ago but I swelled up after a piece of meat got stuck and the swelling just wouldn't go away till I got an unfill.

Good luck.

the doc was not sure... i have not been over eating at all..... it was noticeable a little bit last mont at my fill and then this time he was like we gotta fix it..... the bottom part of my stomach was up some in the top part of myy band.... even more so this time from last. have had no bad signs or anything... only thing i can think of is drinking too much Water? he really could not explain it..... he said the uunfill should fix it tho..... im just sad because the last two or three fills i have done so well and have lost pretty much 50 lbs those last three times.

It sounds like you had what is referred to as a slip. I am sorry. This resting of the pouch just may fix it, I will hope and pray that it does. It will be hard to control your appetite but try to eat as you have been doing to lose that great 50 pounds and maybe even increase your exercise some.

Best wishes

Mimi

PS, have you been throwing up? I never heard of too much Water causing it, sometimes they just slip and no one knows why. Please do not blame yourself, focus on the good that has happened. When will your doc check you again?

i have not thrown up in over 3 or 4 months.... and when i did it was not that bad. he said the weird thing was when he did the unfill everything looked normal? i wasnt the greatest at what i was eating when i first got the band.... but i slowly adjusted to it and have been doing great. maybe my past when i wasnt doing so well messed it up now?

he didnt say it slipped tho today... i would think if it was something that major he would have told me it was a slip?

so do these unfills usually work?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
