second fill clogs and bogs :-(

Recommended Posts

HEYYYY ALL!

Had my second fill on the 19th. had lost only 2 pound since my first fill. :-(

so this takes me from 196lb to 176lb - soo i guess i should be stoked with 20lb lost in 2 months. (was banded on the 24th of september)

BUT

i had my second fill... and i can't get anything down comfortably. brought up cherry Tomato and then everything from banana to celery just sits uncomfortably for 10 minutes..

is this the band just starting to work? and its time for the behaviour modification? or is this not normal?

I am trying to stick to Optifast and mushies for a few days. just because i feel like i need a break before i start my uni exams on tuesday..

hope your all flying high! xxxx:thumbup:

hey, I just posted a very similar post. Look under HELP/advice needed...

I am in the same boat except I have lost 20 lbs in 3 months! I was banded on 8/28/09 and have slowly lost 20 lbs. I got my 2nd fill yesterday and I think it's a) either too tight or  this thing is just starting to actually work!

Let's both hang in there and see how it goes.

Hi:

My doctor has us on liquids first 24 hours, then mushies next 24 hours, and then solids after 48 hours. Maybe you should be on mushies still. Our bands are very tricky and I think sometimes there's swelling right after a fill.

I hope you feel better soon. Don't forget, if you cannot get liquids to stay down you should call your doctor right away.

Take care.

Sue

I had my second fill a week ago. The first few days I really thought that my band was too tight because everything I tried to eat came back up. After about four days I was able to eat normal again.... a lot of the problem is that after the fill your stomach is swollen so you need to be careful with what you eat until after the swelling does down. I haven't got sick since those first few days. My problem is that I don't feel anymore restriction then I had before. Hopefully I am just "thinking" this and that really I am not eating as much as I think I am.

Isn't celery high on the list of things that will make your life with the band hell? I was told no things that make strings because they have a high probability of getting stuck. Unless you chopped your celery into itty bitty pieces...

I was told by my dietician that celery grows as you chew it so to be very careful with it. Good luck!

I was told NO celery at all....b/c of the strings. I do chop it very small and use it in Soups but don't eat it even then.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
