Hi All,

Banded on Nov. 3rd, down 20lbs, and my doctor advanced me to soft foods over the weekend and then introduce "normal foods" afterwards. I go back in 2 weeks for a fill. I'm glad everyone else is doing well!!!

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on the 17th and I am doing well. Today was the first day I was able to get up and down without serious pain. I only had ONE incision so I probably would have been miserable if I had the usual five. I still can't put on my socks yet. LOL. Thank god for shoes that slip on easily. I've been on full liquids and have been enjoying a variety of trader joe Soups and my Protein Shakes. I've been trying to get enough calories but its hard. I have to eat constantly just to get at least 600 calories in. Today I could only get in a little over 500. But hey, I'm not complaining. I've been going for short walks and doing chores around the house. And I am relieved I finally had a BM today. I am not used to not having regular BM's. Thinking of trying benefiber or something. Tomorrow I will venture futher than my neighborhood and head downtown to Manhattan. I have to really take my time with all the subway stairs but I'm sure I can do it if I don't rush. Now if only I could sleep more than 3 hours at a time. The horrid gas pains build in my chest and wake me up so then I have to get up and pace through the apt. But none of this upsets me. Still feeling a bit euphoric about taking this huge step. Feeling pretty awesome right now. No pain...No gain right?

I was banded a little over a week ago. I am doing well, back to work. My only problem is that one of my incisions hurts like a bugger! It looks great, not infected or anything but there is a hard lump underneath that hurts. It's probably my port (yep, I don't know) but seems more painful than it should be. I go for my post op on Tuesday. Other than that I'm hungry all the time. I feel like I could eat like I normally would. I'm not, of course. I'm just starting some mushies.

I was banded on 11/18/09...2 weeks of Optifast pre-surgery, Clear Liquids the day before surgery and full liquids for the first week post-surgery. Can't wait to move to mushies next Wednesday! I'd kill for an egg or something right now?! lol

Still having a bit of discomfort and some swelling, but I guess that is to be expected just 2 days post-op. I didn't realize how swollen I was until I stepped on the scale. I gained 7lbs while in the hospital and never had anything other then ice chips. I guess it's all the fluids they pump into your IV.

Just like with any other surgery, this too shall pass.

Excited about getting past this phase and becoming a healthier me!

Hi everyone, I just found out about the sight a couple days ago. I was banded on nov 12. reading all the different posts on here kinda makes me feel stupid in relation to my band, lol. I didn't meet my surgeon until the day of my surgery, and I have no idea when my first fill is. all the direction i got diet wise was a gneric flier saying these foods are ok at this time, but i was never told how much i should try to eat or drink at one time. no clue how many calories i'm supposed to aim for each day, or how much Protein and what-not. has anybody else has as confusing time as me?

Hi,

No pre-op diet, got banded 11/4/09. Stayed overnight, 1 week liquids, 1 week mushies and finally back to solid food:thumbup:. Pretty much no appetite at all. Lost about 12 pounds so far:thumbup:. First fill scheduled for 11/30/09.

Hi all,

banded on 11/09/09 and I am ready for mushies. Everything is going great. My incision sites are so small and healing nicely. I am trying not to be a scale whore, but I really am not seeing alot of results. I don't think I am getting enough calories. I have maybe 200-300 a day. Hoping it will be better once I can have mushies. Never thought I would say I miss some low fat cottage cheese. LOL

Still looking on the positive side and I know in my heart this time it will work. 4x4 Moma

Hey, I was banded 11-9-09 also and still on a liquid diet, my surgeon requires 1 month of liquid diet which has been very challenging. I have decided not to weigh myself at home only to due it at my surgeons office which has been very difficult but it seems my scale differs so much each day and from their scale that I don't want that to mess with my head:rolleyes:. When I went in for 1 week post op appt 1 had lost 9 lbs so I was very happy with that. I go in again Dec 8th and can't wait to actually be able to eat something, Thanksgiving is going to be very hard.

Hang in there and we will both start seeing the results of our hard work very soon:thumbup:

Hey the port pain will get better each day. I was banded 11-9-09 and went through the same thing and each day it gets better, I even went grocery shopping at Walmart last night without any problems. The hard lump is probably scar tissue forming, if you massage it that should help. I am still on a liquid diet until 12-8-09 which is starting to become hard, so I can't wait for mushies

Chica, yesterday I was out shopping and went to Panera bread and had some creamy Tomato Soup. It was pureed, but nice and thick. I added some unflavored Protein Powder, and for the first time, I couldn't taste it in the liquid. I think if you take it slowly, you could have something similiar. I heard that the acid in tomatoes can cause reflux or heartburn, but it doesn't bother me.

I had my surgery 11/17. Was on clear liquids Wed. and Thursday, then moved to full liquids, which really helped the little bit of hunger I was starting to feel. I am just taking it kinda slow. There is no way I can eat the 1/2 cup of yogurt or sugar free fat free pudding im allowed! Am already loving this band thing...lol I feel a good amount of restriction. Its probably due to swelling, but hey, ill take restriction any way I can.... Pain wise, im doing well. A little pain when getting up from something low but other wise not bad. Never have had pain in the stomach area, just in the port site. Goin back to work Monday, but I have a desk job for the most part. Got my pedometer ready to walk on my breaks.. MD says work up to 2 miles a day asap! Well... off to get 1/2 cup of Decaf coffee..... Everyone have a blessed day!

I am one day post-surgery. Only had a popsicle, Soup, yogurt, and my Protein Shake in 24 hrs. My appetite has disappeared. My craving for chinese, pizza, etc. have also faded away. I just hope this keeps up. ?The surgery was worth it, I feel thinner already;0)

Thanks, well last night I decided after having lots of stomach grumbling to move onto Protein shakes. So I had my first last night and it was soooooooo good, just w/ the low-fat milk and its chocolate flavor. It was good. Hahaha. This morning I'm having my Carnation Instant Breakfast for Breakfast and will work on my Protein Shakes for the other meals.

Worse part is the antibiotics have gotten to me so now I have to get some monistat since its caused me to have a yeast infection. (sorry if TMI)

Other than that, I'm doing okay...my incisions are really itchy which must mean their healing well.

Hola everyone! I was just banded yesterday! 11/20/09! I'm soo sore but I know that's the way it is. I had a hard time sleeping on my back last night cause I'm a stomach sleeper. My husband has been wonderful and I was well enough to go home the same day of my surgery. All I have to say is I'm soo ready to take my life back. Congrats and good luck to all you November fellow bandsters!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
