Is my band too tight?

Recommended Posts

Last month I was supposed to go from 8cc-9cc in my band. There were problems and I went home with only 6cc in my band. I had a fill on Tuesday and I convinced them to put me up to 9cc. When I drink fluids, I feel them sit in my pouch and then go down after few seconds. I also feel little bubbles in my puch as the liquid goes down. I'm kind of worried about moving on to solids. I haven't been impressed with my band, so far. I am only 20 lbs down since surgery and have been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. I also can't believe the difference between 8cc and 9cc in my band. You wouldn't think 1 cc would make that much difference. I am just so desperate to get to my sweet spot and get this band working.

You're probably getting to the sweet spot. That's the way I felt when I hit the sweet spot. Feels like the food perculates down thru the band especially when you first start to take a few bites.

When you get near the sweet spot - very little adjustment needs to be made for you to feel a difference. My "fine tuning" was .25CC or .5 CC - that's it.....

You must remember to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW........and EAT SLOWLY. This will prevent you from getting stuck........Also, when you first feel that you had eaten enough - stop. You need to get used to that new sense of full when you're in the zone.....

GOOD LUCK - YOU ARE DOING GREAT.....67 LBS IS AWESOME...KEEP IT UP.... !!!!:bored:

Yes ..... I agree. That is how I felt and I think I have been at a sweet spot for awhile now.

I had to do liquids and very soft stuff like yogurt for a couple weeks and go very slow.

And it's true what John said about .25 or .5 cc's making a difference. You might need to go down just a teeny tiny amount to get rid of that "clogged drain" feeling. I had to, and it made all the difference in the world.

Don't be afraid to ask for an unfill. If you are having any acid reflux, definitely call your doctor because that is a red flag of being too tight. Getting overfilled will not help you lose weight faster. It can actually set you back. That's what happened to me. I lost a whole month of progress because I was overfilled, had to get unfilled, and then had to wait for the swelling to go down (from being overfilled). So, the longer you go overfilled, the more swelling can happen.

Good luck! :bored:

I just had an unfill yesterday. 3/4cc taken out. I feel so much better now and think I may be at my sweet spot.

I had a complete unfill on Monday to see how much I really had in. He replaced all of it plus 1 1/2 cc's that we thought were already there (he must have missed once). Well after that, I felt very tight, but thought it was good for me. As the day went on I was okay until that night and I couldn't get all of my Water in and couldn't sleep much. I drank a Protein shake and it came back up. Through the day yesterday I couldn't eat or drink without it coming back up and even drinking nothing, the saliva would come up as foam. It hurt my back so bad. It was a horrible experience. The doctor got me in last evening and unfilled 3/4 cc and it has made all of the difference. I hope I am at my sweet spot now. gaye

Oh, you poor thing, Gaye. I know how awful that can be! I had an unfill 3 weeks ago because something I ate got stuck and caused a lot of swelling and pain. I go back next Friday to get a refill. What a relief it was to get that unfill, though! It's too bad these bands don't have a dial that we can just self-adjust! lol

Glad you're feeling better now!

I agree with all of you. I had to have 8 cc taken out of my band (I had 9 cc in it) and wait two weeks for the swelling to go down before I could get some put back in. I now have 7 1/2 cc back in and I seem to be better but I really don't feel the restriction I think I should. I might go back to ask for another small fill. Maybe just 1/4 cc

Not a bad idea. I've had .2 cc put in before, and it's amazing how just a teeny tiny amount can make a difference!
