I still eat carbs so don't have lots of ideas. However most italian restaurants normally have some kind of veal and chicken dishes which you could probably try.

How about an antipasto platter? YUM! Soup and a salad? Some type of mixed grill (a small variety of grilled meats)? The higher-end italian restaurants will have lots of grilled meat and potato options.

HTH,

Amy

Yes, I am off the Pasta, rice and bread, so going italian is hard. I am not totally off carbs by any means, but I don't want to risk Gummy foods. Usually they have salad bars and usually they have chicken Parmesan or sausage options. Most of them had kid's meals that include chicken nuggets. My stomach is not tolerating salad at all, so I pretty much don't go italian.

thanks for the responses, i too cannot eat salads anymore. i am supposed to stay away from the carbs and fill up on Protein. so, i will try the veal parmesan and just pick and move around the Pasta that comes with it!! eating meat it something new to me. i'm doing the exact opposite of the way i ate my whole life! i used to eat the Soup, (slider food now) salad, (doesn't go down now) and of course many many breadsticks(would get stuck now)!!! thanks to you all!lisa6:tt2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
