Recommended Posts

i've been getting a lot of private messages and have seen some post about how to handle thanksgiving...luckily for me...my mom's cooking is horrible and my interest in food is very minimal....i'm more interested in BLACK FRIDAY!!!!!!!! why ur sitting there watching everyone stuff their faces...just remember the very next day YOU can go buy a pair of pants or a sweater that would not have fit u the year b4...y ur watching everyone eat pie....remember this loss is soooooooooooooo much sweeter then the pie...the statisfaction u'll get from eating a thanksgiving meal will last a few hours...the satisfaction u'll get from taking ur weight off will last 4-ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP THAT IN MIND.....

I couldn't agree more! I'm looking forward to eating a few bites of my favorites but feel quite confident I wont blow it.

Thanks for always being so encouraging.

I was trying to decide what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving. Since we are hosting it, I plan on enjoying it, but not over doing it. I'll start my pre-op diet a week and a half later, so I do want to enjoy one more holiday meal, but not over indulge. Then, for Christmas, I will be in my post-op liquid stage, so I won't be able to enjoy that meal.

As much as I enjoy the holiday meals, I want my band and I'll enjoy even more being healthy for future holidays with my family.

The one thing I believe I will miss is my Christmas fudge. I look forward to this every year.

Im gonna eat on thanksgiving lol For the past 2 weeks, I've been on a strict diet (never cheated once) and lost 8 pounds. Im going to continue this until thanksgiving where Im going to allow myself a small portion of reg food. I think in order to maintain my weight, I can eat whatever just in small portions. But when its time for me to LOSE the weight, I jus cut out alot of things. And thats because I have my own deadline lol I want to reach -50 by dec. So far I lost 35 I jus need to lose 5 more pounds by the end of this month and then 10 pounds in dec...And then hopefully by June I will have lost over 100 pounds.

Well I plan on eating a little bit of the things I want. I have learned that if I say I can't have something then it makes me want it even more. If I really want something then I eat it I just eat a little bit of it. I had surgery on 7/39 and I have lost 30lbs so I believe I am doing good. Good Luck with Thanksgiving and Christmas everyone. Hope you have Happy Holidays!

The one thing I believe I will miss is my Christmas fudge. I look forward to this every year.

I have a candy store in my town where they have wonderful Sugar Free Chocolate. It has Maltitol, so one or two pieces is enough. The think I like is that you can buy one or two pieces. Perfect!!!

I'll be -1000 calories even before I sit down at the table. Search active.com for a "Turkey trot" run near you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
