frenchvanilla 0 Posted November 19, 2009 Okay I might be totally off base with this but, shortly after being banded (about a year ago) I have spotting between my periods every single month for a year now. This has never happened before, not really sure if it has anything to do with the band.Anyone else having this issue. its very annoying! any help would be appreciated! thanks
MaggiesMom1999 0 Posted November 19, 2009 Same deal here! And my periods are MUCH heavier, like they used to be when I was a teenager. I just thought it was my age (I'm now 47) and that I was probably entering peri-menopause or something. But maybe there's something about the weight loss causing some hormonal issues of some kind. Maybe??? Still, interesting...... Leigh Alabama

paracelsus51 0 Posted November 20, 2009 One possibility is that because fat stores hormones and when you put on weight it affects how your body processes hormones. When you lose fat your body has to metabolize whatever is in it, including hormones. That can cause your cycle to be messed up.
onikenbai 33 Posted November 20, 2009 It's common. I had it start during my pre-op diet! Part of it is because you're losing weight quite quickly from an evolutionary viewpoint and it's your body's way of saying that it isn't really well equipped to carry a pregnancy right now as clearly there is a food shortage going on. This doesn't mean you can't get preggers though, so beware!
