At lunch today I started to eat some really mushy dressing, with gravy on it and I started to hiccup. I had only taken like two bites and then I started to throw up, like projectile, everywhere! I have never had any problems with this and its been two weeks since I had a fill, weird....Anybody else ever throw up just from the hiccups? I could understand if I had eaten something I wasn't supposed to or if I had eaten too much, but I had barely started to eat!!! Oh I am 8 weeks post op too....

I think the hiccups are related to a spasm; which I had after surgery occassionally. But, my MD prescribed a muscle relaxer to help with that problem which worked. I was told to stay away from bread for quite sometime. Do you use regular utensils? I had to buy small dishes, small silverware so I would eat small amts. Right now I am eating about 1/4 of a cup to 1/2 of a cup at meals the most they want me to take in is 1 cup. Its hard because from what I have read; everyone is different. I have been lucky and have not had any issues with losing weight because I'm down a total of 40 lbs (lost 23 before surgery) since 10/29 and I have yet to have a reguritation or the feeling of hunger. I'm not looking for "bandster hell" but I have not seen it yet. Thank goodness. Good Luck!

Well, you didn't actually throw up (vomit)! That was a productive burp...and you're not the first to describe it to be like projectile vomiting. My first went everywhere, out of mouth like a rocket, LOL.

Hiccups aren't all that uncommon as a full signal or, as in this case, a fake signal. My guess is that the really mushy dressing, which seemed so innocent, formed a sticky ball and got stuck. Soft bread tends to turn into a glutinous lump. I just don't even try to eat soft bread anymore because it gets stuck EVERY time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
