Do you ever have band pain?

Recommended Posts

I have been banded four months and every now and then I feel band pain. Its not port site pain, its actually a deep pain in my stomach. I see my Doc in two weeks and Im going to bring it up then; but I was wondering if anyone else ever has band pain. It kind of feels like I rip something. I know in my surgery they stitched some of my stomach over the band to hold it in place, and I wonder if it is that Im tearing that when I stand up too quick or something. It usually hurts for a few days then the pain goes away and everything is back to normal.

Hi:

I had pain at my band site when I was too tight once. It actually hurt every time I swallowed - even liquids. The pain was deep inside behind my rib cage on the left side. I think that is where the band is placed. A slight unfill made the pain stop.

I hope you feel better soon.

Sue

Yes my pain is also on the left side deep. I know its my band. At first I thought I was getting weird side aches; but then I realized it was my band around my stomach that hurt. My band isnt too tight though. I dont even have much restriction. I am starting to get worried. I go see my Dr in a few days. I really hope Im not eroding or something.

I think you should make an appointment with your surgeon and discuss this matter with him/her.

I have an apt in a few days. I said in my original post that I had made an apt.

Sorry, I must have missed that. I'm only human!

Early on I got stomach aches every now and then, I'd wake up hurting, it'd last a day and then go away again.

And I got a lot of weird pain that would radiate up into the roof of my mouth.

It was unexplained but had stopped happening by the end of the first year.

I get a pain in my left side when I am full, instead of feeling full. Feels sore. Today it's just hurting. Tomorrow when I overeat (a bit) it will hurt again too. I also feel some pain on the right side every once in a while. When I go in for my check up in a couple weeks, I am going to have them point to exactly where my band is, as I've never thought to ask that before. I used to freak out thinking I'd slipped at every ache and pain, even though I've never had a symptom of a slip. I am amazed by the variety of places I can hurt with the band. I am told every time that it is all normal.

Let us know what the doctor says.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
