okay now I understand bandster hell now :-(

Recommended Posts

I'm now on a soft diet with NO restriction whatsoever. I am starving to death eating 1 cup of food. I have been measuring on sight (at a class again today where they served this amazing lunch), so here I am having my steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. Couldn't have any chicken because it was breaded a million times over. They haD these amazing cheesecakes and everything too- I just wanted to cry. I have never had an issue with food on my pre op 1500 cal a day diet, but now with this one cup crap I am soooo not satisfied and worried I did the wrong thing here. Please tell me it'll get better after my first fill! I'm really strugglinh right now. Any support or advice would be SO appreciated.

(Fyi- getting 60 to 70 g of Protein per day!)

It really will get better! If you're still hungry after 1 cup, then have a bit more. I honestly did not measure a THING while I was healing, and I lost weight the entire time. Of course, I ate what the doc told me to eat, and I didn't eat except for meals, but I did not measure anything. Don't go hog wild, of course.

You'll look back on these days and think that they were no big deal. When you're putting on skinny clothes and loving the way you look, you will know that Bandster Hell was worth it all! I went shopping today and for the first time in 20 years, I did not have to shop in plus sizes. Life is good when you follow the band rules and let it be the tool it was designed to be.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Girl -- I'm having the same problem. Although I'm not as far into my post op diet as you. I'm in week 1 of Clear Liquids. However last night I went to m aunts house and she was serving Pasta ( my weakness) and I thought I was going to cry cause it was just salivating in my mouth. I know this is going to be hard, but I IT WILL GET BETTER!

Since you are able to eat mushies..mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, can you try some soft meats like a turkey burger or meatloaf? That Protein will really help with feeling satisfied!

It will get better when you've had enough fill to get some restriction. In the meantime, eat a little more to satisfy yourself, as long as it's the right type of food. Get in the Protein foods, they satisfy hunger longer. I'd eat the chicken too, unless it's not soft enough for you at this stage. I eat even the tempting foods - just a taste though.

Thanks for all your replies. Honestly, I sailed through the first couple of weeks thinking "this isn't so bad". This week is really bad for me. I am seriously stalking these boards trying to regain my motivation. I am just worried my momentum is shot, which is nuts for me, since they joke with me at the support groups that I'm like the most motivated person they've ever seen! I just don't want to feel these hunger pains anymore.

I'm going to try a boca burger for lunch today. I just want to feel full. Honestly, I keep saying I have the scars and I can feel the port, but there's just no damn band in there LOL.

Thanks again for all your support. I really need to just stop complaining, pick myself back up and do something to get my positive outlook back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
