Recommended Posts

I'm almost 2 weeks post-op and I've been beggin my husband...but he won't give in because he thinks he'll hurt me! lol.

Is it painful? Different in any way?

I think we waited about a week. He can't hurt you unless he's worried about the incisions. I say have fun trying it new ways! The more you lose, the more you may want to experiment anyway!

I'm so glad someone asked this! I've been wondering too, but too shy to ask! Of course, my boyfriend isn't too shy to ask me EVERY DAY - "how long do we have to wait??" haha! I guess it just depends on the pain/pressure, but glad to see it's not WEEKS! :w00t:

I waited about 2 weeks, until my port area was completely healed.

Listen to your body, if you feel fine enough than go for it. :w00t:

UGH, my poor husband! At my 2 week post-op visit I asked the Doc if it was normal to have NO sex drive. She said sometimes surgery will affect ppl that way but I should be back to normal in no time. It was 3 weeks before I had any desire to have sex, my poor hubby was about out of his tree. LOL, I felt so bad for him. I didnt have any pain at all. BUT after 3 weeks ,LMAO it didnt last that long. Poor hubby.

I'm kind of a prude. Since being on antidepressants it had for sure decreased my sex drive. My poor husband:( The last thing I want to do is have sex when I'm in this much pain as it is. But if I do, I think I'm going to wait at least 2 weeks.

I think we made it 4 days. I put pillows under my hips to make it a better angle so he wouldn't lean over me and rub on my port. sorry if TMI .

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
