The Band with NO Name...STILL!

Recommended Posts

Alright, it's been over a month and I can say that I've bonded with my band, but he/she STILL doesn't have a name. Please help!

Leave your band name suggestions in the comments section - I'll pick one from there. Many thanks for your help, friends!

Don't feel bad about neglecting to name your band........I've had mine for almost 7 months and have never even considered giving it a name. How neglectful of me! Hehe.

I feel so bad I did not give my band a name either. It has been so good to me and I have left it name-less,shame,shame. I am going to find a suitable name for such a wonderful tool.

Funny thing about this topic! I did name my band several weeks after being banded and some people find it strange to name it. So a little background on the name before I tell you so that you don't think I am some kind of weirdo! First, I have been banded almost 2 yrs and at around 3 weeks or so after surgery I noticed that my band made these gurgling noises. I wasn't hungry or anything and at first I just dismissed it. But my stomach has a way of making that noise at the craziest times and honestly it can become embarassing at times. Anyways, I named my band "Gabby" I chose this name because she always "talks", you know the type I am talking about. People who "gab" all the time.

Said in a deeper Sean Connery voice...

My name is Band, James Band....

I like the "Band...James Band" thought! My band is named Bernard. Don't know why I chose that name..it just seems to fit.

Now, naming your band is a very person decision. I first had to decide whether it was a male or female band. Most days, it's male. So, the male name.

I would suggest you roll some thoughts around in your head and see what seems to fit. You could always go with "no-nam-e" (like sunami) and that might work. Or, you could try something really clever like "band-it" or "band-aid" or even "bandalot" (like Camelot- that mystical, magical land where dreams come true). There are many ideas. One will come to you, in due time.

i was banded oct 13 of this year. about 2 weeks post op, i started to call her Nelly. as in Whoa Nelly or slow down. i figure mine is a girl, because she is quiet (so far) and has been put there to help like a girlfriend. my grandma was a Nelly, so that is part naming it after her. i have always thought mine as a girl, so nelly just came to me. it is what my dad named all his cars too. hahaha

How about the General or the Governor??

Mine is Becky because we are buddies, Vicki and Becky. Although my Becky has a sweet-tooth, which you would think that a Band would not. I am always trying to reason with her about food choices... She is very child-like but it always gives my daughter a laugh when I talk about Becky...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
