Hello fellow lap banders. I am set for surgery in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Ortiz on Dec. 2. I am trying to get as much information and support before the surgery and found this forum. I started my pre-op diet today and I am using the Premier chocolate Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner. I can substitue another Protein Shake [i can see these getting difficult to get down] as long as it is under 250 cal. Any recommendations? Thanks

Hi Take charge, welcome to LBT!

This is actually one of the oldest diets I’ve known of, besides the most usual of just eating smaller portions and more healthy and good physical activity.

I still do this on occasion and I have noticed I lose so much better when I’m doing this. I love chocolate so the Protein Drinks taste good to me. I have vanilla and strawberry too and even mix them together for a Neapolitan taste!

Best wishes on your pre-op diet! You will be so happy when you succeed so hang in there! It’s more than just “worth it”.

J

I am reminded of a quote that I heard at weightwatchers that inspires me "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I realized that if i did not take charge I would be in line for all kinds of medical problems down the road. A few weeks of sacrifice seem a small price to pay. :w00t:

I am actually signed up for Weight Watchers Online. I really love it. I’m trying to settle in with a perfect diet for me that I know I can stick to.

So far the liquid morning and lunch with fruit Snacks in between and a sensible dinner is the winner. It usually comes out to about 24 points per day. I’m telling you, the band helps so much, both with the thought of getting one and the help it gives after! NO way could I do that before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
