dyingtobethin 0 Posted November 14, 2009 I HAVE HAD A THYROID PROBLEM FOR 10 OR MORE YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON A THYROID REPLACEMENT MEDICINE. THIS HAS KEPT MY LEVELS NORMAL WELL FOR THE PAST 1 YEAR OR MORE I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY OF MY MEDCINE ON THE WEEKENDS MAINLY BECAUSE I LEAVE IT AT WORK IN MY DESK DRAWER. WELL ANYWAY I HAD SOME LABS DONE THE OTHER DAY AND MY THYROID CAME BACK A 12 AND SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0-3. WELL NOW I HAVE TO TAKE MY MEDS DAILY FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN HAVE IT TESTED AGAIN. I AM BUMMED I SO HOPE IT WILL ONLY TAKE AT THE LONGEST A MONTH TO GET THIS CORRECTED. I ONLY HAVE ONE MORE APPOINTMENT AND IT WILL BE TIME TO SUBMIT TO INSURANCE FOR APPROVAL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IF MY THYROID IS OFF THEY WILL DENY ME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
greytz 4 Posted November 14, 2009 I have suffered from thyroid disease for many years now and yes, you should keep it under control which means taking your medicine faithfully every day. I can't say whether or not you will be denied but I know that I was required to have all my comorbidies under control when I had my surgery. It is usually very easy to get your thyroid back under control and within range but it will be very important for the success of your weight loss. Please be sure and take it as directed by your doctor. By a little pill holder and keep it in your purse for the times when you forget the bottle.
