I'm about 4 1/2 months post op, and I find that I'm tired all the time. I thought that it was because of the stress of my life: husband, two kids, full-time job, full-time Ph.D. student. However, I've noticed that even when I do manage to get 8 hours of sleep, I'm still tired all the time. Someone suggested B-12.

I'm also cold all the time. Someone told me it could be because I'm drinking so much Water.< /p>

Anyone else dealing with these issues? Should I be thinking that they're related to LB surgery and weight loss?

I feel the same way. I was banded July 9, 09.

I have been taking B12 for a couple months and feel no different. I feel cold too. There's not much fuel going in and my body can live off the fat of the land, but does not seem to know how to make energy or warmth from it.

I'm cold all the time since my surgery but I have no doubt it's because I'm not holding as much Fluid under my skin and I'm not generating as much heat...maybe due to not 'fueling' my body as much as I used to?

Personally, this is a plus for me since I was always miserably hot before, needing a fan even in the wintertime.

Talk to your doctor. Maybe a sleep study is in order. I have apenea and the symptoms you describe could be apnea.

I felt the same way after my surgery but learned for me it was that I needed Protein. As soon as I increased my protein intake I got more energy and was not cold anymore.

Maybe you ought to have your thyroid checked . Those where the same problems I had and my thyroid was low. So they check it about every 6 months. I have been on meds for about 5 years and when I get that feeling I have a low thyroid and my meds need to be adjusted

I was tired all the time and cold also. I went to my family doctor (he's been wonderful during all this) and he ordered lab work. He told me I could have low B12, Vitamin D or Iron levels. He got the results back and my B12 was low. I started taking B12 Vitamins and that helped with the energy. Also, I don't know what kinds of medications you're on but that can also be the problem if you're taking blood pressure meds. With me its liking a rollercoaster ride trying to adjust them after my weight loss. My blood pressure was staying around 60/50 or so. I have a blood pressure cuff and kept a check on it. They first took me off one pill and then another. I'm finally down to only 1/2 a blood pressure pill a day and most of the coldness has went away. Also I was taking 100 mg of Coreg a day and am now down to 25mg (yipee!) and that was a part of my tiredness too. I'm always colder than my husband and sometimes I burn him up with the heat up higher than normal. The doctor told me it'd take awhile for my body to adjust because of a loss of the fat "insulating" me. I know my aunt lost quiet a bit of weight and she froze for a long time. I would go talk to my doctor and get some lab work done to find out exactly what's going on.

Two of the many questions asked by endocrinologist when checking for thyroid problems are "are you cold when others are not and are you tired". I have been on thyroid for 35 years now and I always have to answer the same questions. You might want to a ask your doc.

Thanks for all the feedback. I''m not on any other meds, so I don't think that's contributing to the problem. I have my annual physical coming up just after Christmas, so I'll be sure to discuss all fo this with my doctor. I had heard about the lack of B-12, but I didn't think about the thyroid.

I also had freezing hands/feet:frown: all the time since losing weight. I thought it was just because I had less fat insulation. (I use to sweat all the time!). But I had my doc do blood work and I was anemic.. on an Iron supplement now and it has definitely improved. I also had low vit d levels (and currently take a Multivitamin everyday REGULARLY).

Definitely worth having your doc do a blood test!:wink2:

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
