I had my third fill two weeks ago I now have 8.5cc in a 10 inch band and the 21st will be 3 months since surgery. They were aggressive because I'm self pay and only have 3 months free fills and I was fine with that. The first week after the last fill I could eat almost anything but only a small portion. Although I managed to gain almost five pounds.... (damn halloween candy)

Then all the sudden I can't eat anything without throwing it up. I've lost 8 pounds in the last week. I'm doing just Protein Shakes and liquids now. I called to get in for a slight unfill but I'm scared it will take the restriction I need away. If it's too full why could I eat fine the first week and now not any more? Could it have slipped?

Dawn-anything is possible. It's good that you're going in for the dr. to check. If they need to remove some Fluid then that's what they'll have to do. You need to stay healthy. Good luck, Barb

I would call the surgeon asap of course but meanwhile, if you have any restriction at all you are probably not slipped. I have 6.2cc's in my 10cc band and I am quite restricted but not completely. Some days I feel like I can eat a ton and others, I can hardly eat anything. The biggest thing I see with you right now is you can't stay on liquids. It defeats the purpose of the band and that is why you are hungry all the time. Liquids will not keep you fill like solids will. It is the first thing you will need to fix. Good Luck and let us know what the surgeon says.

Please get an adjustment ASAP...I feel your worries, I have been there!!! It is not the way the band was intended to work, what you are going through now. Restriction is not not being able to eat anything, you should be able to eat a reasonable amount. Please post your decision and outcome.

Thanks everyone.

I went to see the Dr. today and she took only a slit amount of fill out and OMG did it make all the difference in the world. I can now eat 1 cup and keep it down and best yet feel full! The band looked great she said so now I don't have to worry about that thank goodness.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
