How did you determine your goal weight?

Recommended Posts

Like I said earlier...I doubt that I am 185lbs of leaness....but was just wondering if there were ways to find that kinda of thing out. My scale says perscentage too, but I'm not sure I really trust it either. And no way would I be perfect weight at 225 oh that is so laughable, since when I was 200 I was still too chubby...some of which is skin. Isn't that yucky. The thing I noticed when i lost down to 200 before was...with all the extra skin I still look like i'm huge...or is this just a personal thing that we always see ourselves as huge?

My biggest determining factor was that I did not want ot be fat at 40..I had my surgery 3 weeks before my 38th birthday so I had to two years to get this fat off..I'm now 39, will be 40 in April and I now will be fit at 40!

My Dr. told me 90 lbs but I am going strong still and have lost 102.5 in 18 months..I'm going for another 12.5 lbs to make me at 150 lbs for a total loss of 115 lbs.

I chose my goal weight of 140 because it was right smack dab in the middle of the "normal" bmi range. I know BMI doens't REALLY have much barring on anything, but it was a place to start. According to the site that Vines found for "Ideal Body Weight" I should be at 162, and I've been playing with the idea of changing my goal to 160 for quite a while anyway. Right now though, I kind of feel like changing my goal is cheating myself. It's kind of silly, but here's the thinking behind it: If I change my goal now, my mini goals change, ie: I'm closer to halfway to goal, when with my original goal, my halfway point is still 15 lbs away. So it almost feels like I'm changing it just to get to my miles stones faster or something. I figure when I get to 160 I can re-evaluate and see how I feel and THEN change my goal.

I also think that my sister looks very good at 130, she's my same height, but has a slightly smaller frame than me, which is another reason I picked 140.

I don't think it's about the exact weight so much any more for me. I am 160 at 5'8.5" and I look pretty good in clothes (as long as I camouflage my hanging stomach & abdomen) but unclothed is a nightmare. I really feel the need to have PS in order to complete the process.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
