Losing the weight on our own would have been a great accomplishment but that's just one piece of the puzzle, you must keep it off and that's why I do not regret having the surgery AT ALL!!! I would do it all over again and certainly wished I had done it much sooner than I did.

Everytime this thread comes up, the song My Way goes through my head. I'll pass along the earworm..lol

"Regrets, I have a few, but then again, too few to mention."

for me my insurance covered very well, I wish I had done this a couple of years ago. I could have avoided the mental and emotional misery of the last couple of years.

However, during the process, I lost a lot of weight and was proud of that ... and I thought well maybe I can just do it this time and stick ot it but I know that is not the case in reality. I can lose but I get to a point and go back up, further than where I started. I am anti drug for myself.

So during this process I have been doing counseling, and serious diet eval so I feel better equiped to make this long term. And I have the Cop in my tummy that I respect, and fear at once. So I am really happy. I am 42 and I feel my life is just starting again. I feel great already .

now do you mean the weight wouldn't come off or you couldnt stick to the diet ? thank you for your reply

Any WLS isn't a diet - it's a tool to keep you full on a smaller amount of food

We have all lost the weight at one time or another on a "diet" but after we lost it - we went back to eating "normal" and the weight came back on plus some - our normal is what got us fat in the 1st place "duh"

it is really about making a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating and exercise - Our band's don't choose our foods - we do - and we can eat around them and not loose the weight..

It's all about eating healthy and exercising - I did 75% of the work by doing just that and the band did the other 25% by providing restriction

That's why my signature says - eating healthy + exercise+ the band = success..

Good luck to you...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
