People are just Rude!

Recommended Posts

Why does the world think they can tell me I am fat? It is not like I don't know.

Today I was in the teachers' lounge and the gym teacher was wearing her heavy coat. The custodian was teasing her about being cold. She and I always joke back and forth b/c she is from Jamaica and always cold, and I don't wear a coat until at least December. Anyway, the custodian asked me if I was cold and I said no. Well this teacher says, "That is because you have all that extra flesh." I was so mad. I have told her that I was mad that another teacher handed me a diet on the first day of school and always comments on my weight. I really expressed my annoyance. She also has told me that I look like Roseanne and Rosie. The kids have picked up on this and I don't like it.

I have had people I barely know say things to me. What right does anyone have to say anything about my size?

Thanks for letting me vent, LOL

I bet if you said something about her being Jamaican she would have run straight to the principal.

Tell them to cut the crap or you file a report.

Hi,

Don't listen to anyone.... You are who you are. Your weight or the way you look doesn't define YOU! Your heart, personality and how you treat others, defines you. Remember that. I'd turn a blind eye and laugh at them... they'll be wondering how you did it when you get down in weight... Don't tell them!! lol..

Take care of yourself.

Gosh people are ballsy you probably wouldn't mind if they didn't say anything to your face. Why do people think it is their right to comment on other peoples issues? Would they like it if you found out they had high blood pressure, high cholestrol, or depression and made fun of that...I don't think so! Tell them to knock it off!

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Some people are so rude. Perhaps it is because they are trying to hide their own insecurities; regardless it still hurts a lot.

I have a similar coworker who is always giving me diet and workout tips, but I never asked her for them in the first place. She also feels the need to pick apart whatever I'm eating. She'll pick up the wrapper to whatever I have and read the nutrition facts and tell me whats wrong with it. She also asked me once if I had ever considered trying out for the "Biggest Loser."

Oh and of course she's a tiny little thing. Well, I am just silently laughing to myself, and you should too, because a year from now we're going to look amazing and they will be speechless. For once.

I am so sorry that this is happening to you. People can be so rude at times. Try to consider the source and shake it off. If you can't do that, turn away for a second, stick your finger in the corner of your eye to get some "tears" going and then boo-boo out loud. Do it every time someone is rude to you. Tears make people uncomfortable and they will stop being rude. You will be surprised at how well this can work...been there, done that!

Ok TracyNYC, here you go!

I think fluffy people don't like to give it back because we want to be invisible and know that the first thing a person is going to say if they want to put is down is comment on our weight... So that part is over... it's been said in so many words so now you just come back at em! EVERYONE has a flaw... Find the flaw and give them information on how to fix it.

Big nose, pimples, bad hair, bad makeup, bad breath, wrinkles, ugly clothes. yada yada yada...

You can pass on some names of plastic surgeons, cut out magazine advertisments for beauty products, or the lastest fasions, breath mints... I am sure they would appreciate your helpful hints... Just like they thought you would appreciate the diet they took the time to give you. Be just as helpful back.

The next time either of them gives you any grief abouut your size or weight tell them if they continue to harass you that you will file a hostlie work enviorment lawsuit agaist the school as well as them personally. There are federal laws concerning harrasment in the work place. Not just racial or sexual, the legal definition of workplace harassment is "creating a hostile work enviorment" I would give them 1 more warning of this if they bother you again as well as written notifacation to the administrator at the school. They are legally required to follow up on it. You do not have to tolerate it, or should you. Be strong, you are improving yourself, not for them but for you!

I was on a flight from Denver and a SNART had the seat next to me. She look at at me and said " I am uncomfortable sitting next to a fat person, could you change your seat?"

I informed her if she was the princess she thought she was she would be on a private jet and wearing clean jeans and shoes with no holes in them, oh and btw- your makeup should be blended onto your neck, not look like a mask. Yes, I was a bit biotchy, but I did not need her crap ..

I would let her know you can lose the weight but she can't lose stupidity. When all is said and done - you will be thin but she will still be stupid! :)

I have a quick fix for you in a situation like that. It was taught to me years ago. Will never forget the time or place....I was so humiliated.

A friend and I were eating in a restaurant that was having an "All you can eat" chicken dinner. There was a couple sitting next to us that kept staring. Finally, the women says in a very loud voice "Neither of them need to be eating fried chicken, let alone all you can eat".

I know I turned ten shades of red. My friend told me to calm down and watch. First my freind spent about 15 seconds and just stared at the woman's shoes, then moved up to about her middle and then started back down again to the shoes. The women got so flustered that she got up and left.

I have done this in situations where ppl have blurted rude comments. Try it, it works.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
