The last couple of times that I have had a PB I have noticed little specks of blood in it. 1st time it happened I kind of blew it off because I wasn't sure if that was actually what it was or if maybe it was food. Well last night I am positive that it was blood. I didn't have anything red and hadn't had anything with red IN it. I called my doctor's office this morning and exlained everything to the nurse. 1st question she had for me was is the PB a common occurrance - for which it's not. She told me to take it light maybe stick to liquids and mushies for today. Said that maybe I just had an irritated eshophogas and that could be where the blood is from. She told me to just watch if it should happen again and if it does that I need to be seen right away. So my question to all of you is - have any of you ever experienced this? I mean I'm not too concerned at this point because I don't PB alot nor have I had any complications whatsoever - picture perfect banding!! Just wanted to throw it out there and see if anything like that has happened to anyone.

No, but yuck and scary. I'd be insisting on an endoscopy. Pretend you called the first time and said, "I think there was blood in my PB but I'm not sure" and she said "Well, if it happens again come in and we'll have a look". Well, it happened again, and this time you are sure it's blood. Endoscopy!!!!!

I have never had blood in a PB but I have PB'd and that has caused a nose bleed. I agree with the iritated esophagus for now. I know that when I suffered from frequent migrains I vomited blood (small amounts) on a regular basis, the doctor said it was due to the esophagus being inflamed and the contractions that came with throwing up or PB'ing can cause some bleeding in the tiny blood vessels in the throat and esophagus. Hope you are feeling better. Maybe try drinking some aloe juice to sooth the throat? ~Mandy

I had it happen to me a couple of times, the doctor wasn't the least bit alarmed, (glad he wasn't), and he said we have tiny blood vessels in our esoph and throat, which sometimes burst during the pb or can be scratched during the pb.

I had a realy bad bloody PB. I hear all the time here better to be safe than sorry so I went to the ER, over $1000 later, I am fine. They just told me to do liquids for 5 days. I am fine now. No problems. But it was SUPER scary.

Walmart carries Aloe juice in the pharmacy. It comes in 1/2 gallon bottles, I have never seen it any smaller. ~Mandy

Where do you get the Aloe Vera juice? I was thinking it would be good to have on hand.

Just so you know, once you open it you need to drink it. It is handy, but I ended up throwing out 1/2 a bottle. Like Mandy said, the bottles are big. It's so good for you it's hard to throw out! Just make plans to drink several ounces several times a day for a good week until it's gone. Get your money's worth.

Thanks for the help. I did find it at Walmart. They did have a smaller jug that was suppose to be berry flavored. But I thought if it doesn't taste good by itself, sometimes the added flavors make it taste worse. Plus, I didn't look to see if there was any sugar or other additives in it either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
