How long did it take your ins to approve?

Recommended Posts

My info was submitted 3 weeks ago and I'm just wondering how long did it take to hear from your insurance? I know they said it could take a couple of months, but I'm so eager to find out. I just pray that I am approved!

Tracy, just call go to the phone, NOW, and call your insurance company.:thumbup: They can let you know if your paperwork has been received, if you have been approved or not, and when the letter was sent to your surgeon.:drool:

No sense growing gray over this, just call, let your fingers do the walkin my friend!:tt2:

I will give them a call!

I'm just concerned it is going to take forever. I am suppose to have my wisdom teeth taken out. The dentist office sent a letter 2 months ago to get it approved for me to have it done in the hospital and I still haven't heard anything back from that. Although, I would much rather have the lapband than get my wisdom teeth out. :thumbup:

Only 1 more week and I should know if I am approved or denied for WLS. I am going to be on pins and needles. I just spoke with my ins and they said mine is set for review next week. And I could even call back as soon at Wednesday!

Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

My packet was sent to my insurance company, UMR, on November 4 and I was approved on November 23. Still waiting for a surgery date. Was told it will be sometime in January. I was hoping it would be in December since I already met my deductible but at least it was approved the first round! :rolleyes:

HI My insurance papers were sent in December 1st and I received my approval letter 12/9/09, scheduled for surgery 12/16/09. However, my surgery was cancelled because I found out 12/15/09 (the day before surgery) that I needed to pay a liability co payment of 900.00 before the lapband could be performed. I wish I had known this when I started the process in June.:)

WHAT?????:):mad2::smile2:

I am sooo sorry about this for you, I can only imagine your frustration and great disappointment.

Pardon me, but just what is a "liability co-payment? I have never heard of that. What I have heard of is a indiviuals surgeon charging various extra costs that have to be paid by the patient before surgery, but that extra money goes for various classes and shakes and Vitamins, and such.

BTW, who is it that receives this co-pay, the insurance company or the surgeon? And why in sweet heavens name did they not tell you about this long before??? I don't understand, as I am sure you don't either??

This is just terrible, and again, I am sooo sorry.:tt1:

Mine only took 2 days :biggrin: Although they did tell me that it could take up to 30 days. I guess they had nothing to do, so I got pretty lucky .

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
