Took THe plunge...

Recommended Posts

I called DR Bauman's and informed them I'd like to pursue the band instead of the RNY. They told me I had to come again. I just was there last week.

THey told me to finish up preop and they would submit the paper work to UHC.

IT was my understanding they do a preapproval process. Before the big approval. I'm anxious and don't think I can wait 30-45 days.

Well congrats. I don't think UHC will take that long. You will have a date in no time! I'm curious what Dr Bauman says about your change of heart from Band to RNY and back to Band. Is he supportive and encouraging? Just wondering.

I didn't talk to dr bauman about changing my mind. The lap band was seminar only, then I consulted for RNY and today switched via the phone, no talking with dr to lap band again. I checked around in charlotte and there's no one who does lap band, dr b is the only one.

I am so excited.

Alright Jennifer....I for one am very happy for you. I think you will be very happy with your choice. UHC doesn't take long at all....although I don't know about the BMI thing...mine was way over. But it's getting closer to that 40 each day. :(

UHC is one of the fastest when it comes to approval..glad you decided to go with the band over the RNY...I do not think you will regret your decision, especially if you want more children like you stated in your other thread..

Good Luck :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
