Okay - I have a fairly tight restriction - I can eat fine - but I have to be careful because food will get stuck occasionally.

I think I'm getting a stomach flu - you know - upset stomach - nothing to do with the band. This is really a really gross question - but has anyone had a problem throwing up? not PB - but really throwing up? icon9.gif

If you get the stomach flu badly and need to throw up, you need to go to your doctor or the ER to get your fill taken out. As a practical matter (and I am not a doctor), if you stick to liquids until you feel better, you'll have a much easier time if you do need to throw up b/c it can come through the small opening. Definitely call your doctor now and ask what they think you should do.

Best,

Catherine

I don't think many of us bandsters have experienced the stomach flu with the band so this is probably why you aren't receiving many replies.

2Flyguys has just recently posted something where she had the flu. Try finding her post and you can ask her.

This was one of the questions I asked my surgeon PRIOR to surgery. What if???

He advised that should I be throwing up because of the flu or food poisoning... to call immediately and go in for an unfill.

I can't imagine... and really hope it never happens.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
