I had my surgery on 11/09/09. I went home the same day. since then I haven't really bounced back. I have been mostly sleeping I get dizzy when I try to walk and nauseous when I try any liquids. is this normal? I am supposed to go back to work monday but if I continue this way I don't think I can... anyone else go through this?

I took one week off work, but it took me a good 3 weeks to feel like I could really handle working. I have bills to pay, so I just dealt with it. I still have fatigue issues.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

It is different for everyone, but I really didn't start feeling myself until about 10 days or so. I still have some issues, but once I was getting enough Protein in my diet, that helped me with fatigue. I know it is hard, but try to get at least 50 or 60 grams of Protein per day. It will help with energy level.

I am 3 weeks today and feel ok most of the time. Some gas issues still, but nothing compared to week one. Hang in and take it slow.

Anesthesia takes a while to work itself out from different people... plus if you are on Clear Liquids then you are feeling pretty weak. I was about 5 days post op before I left the house and all I did was go with my mom to Target to walk around, it wore me out SO BAD. The first day I worked I worked from home and it exhausted me to just sit at the computer. As you heal and your Protein and calorie intake increases you will feel better and better every day. Your body just went through surgery and was put under anesthesia there's a bit of shock involved in that, but it does get better.

I was banded also on Monday and had to stay overnight due to a hernia repair today is the first day I felt like getting up and sitting on the couch. I am experiencing lots of painful burps but I know that is due to the gas getting out of my system it doesnt help the fact but do expect to feel better by sunday.

I am looking forward to eating mashed potatoes on Saturday I know that sounds strange but I have no desire to eat or drink anything at the moment just want to chill on the couch or in my bed.

:wub:Hang in there they say it gets better.

Obviously I'm not drinking enough because I got so sick today.. Was feeling very nauseous, every time I took a sip of something it made me feel like I wanna throw up. Called the nurse and says its normal- cuz my body is used to a lot of calorie intakes now I'm not taking calories as I sld so my body is reacting and changing so I have to keep drinking 64oz of liquids a day. I will be on liquid diet for 2 weeks to give my stomach time to heal before moving on to the puree stage. My roommate went to the store and got me Gatorade and liquid Tylenol - so I am sitting here drinking Gatorade, feeling little bit of same thing but less nauseous than earlier. Hopefully it'll be a better day tomorrow.

maybe it's the same thing for you? needing more liquid intake? Hope you and I feel better soon!!!!

Oh yea, I lost 17 lbs since my pre-op diet!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
