thall04 11 Posted November 12, 2009 Hello, everyone! Just wondering if this is normal. I am just getting over bronchitis, and I have been coughing like crazy! So, as a result, I keep having extreme port pain. The thing is it's about two inches to the left of my port. My pain is absolutely horrible!!! It feels like someone stuck an ice pick in my stomach. I think that the scar tissue is being pulled. I don't know. I called my doctor and the MA said to just put heat and cold packs on it. She said port pain was normal. But I've had port pain before, and this just seems a lot different. What should I do?! Help!!!!
elgrad 0 Posted November 12, 2009 Good Morning! I would follow what the MA has suggested, at least for 24 hours. It could be a mild muscle strain, due to all the coughing. And since the first thing most folks here would tell you to do is call your doc and you have done that, maybe just follow what they have said and give it 24 hours. If that doesn't help or the pain gets worse, then call to see if you can get in. I know when I am sick and I have to cough, I get a pain in my sides that feels like a muscle strain. It will hurt for a few days and then go away. Of course, that was pre-band, so I know we have uber-concerns when it comes to strong and unusual pains. If it isn't any better in a day, then go to the next step and get it checked out. Good luck and keep us informed, please! Elgrad
happy2lose 0 Posted November 12, 2009 You are the best judge of something not feeling right. Call your surgeon and see about getting an appointment.
