thanks for the welcome wow Vail is beautiful been there many times I am so excited to have this done but I am also nervous and scared but I guess that is to be expected. I wish it was sooner but my doc couldn't get me in till after the first of the year soooo any words of wisdom would be much appreciated I am trying to prepare myself as much as I can now so I am not in for a shock afterwards(like trying to give up my Diet Dr Pepper and drink only 1 cup of coffee in the morning instead of a pot lol didn't know how hard this was going to be) :tongue_smilie: but I am sure it will get easier. but I am sure I will have tons of questions before the big day so any seasoned banders that have any advice or suggestions I am all ears!!

Hi Kells,

I'm from Pueblo. I haven't got a date yet, but am shooting for next month. I just finished my psych and dietician consults yesterday. By early next week, we should be able to schedule the date.

Let's hope that time flies so we'll have our surgery before we know it.

What type of pre-op diet is your doctor going to have you on? Mine is having me do a solid food high Protein low carb diet that I started today.

Hi Mel nice to meet another Coloradan, My doctor just told me I had to fast for 24 hours before the procedure not sure exactly why because I thought I would have to do some awful fasting for weeks before but anyhow guess my wishes came true I just got a call from my surgeons office and they had a cancellation on 11/20/2009 so I am having this done a week from Friday  I will let you know how everything goes and hopefully you will receive your date soon and we can start this journey together!!!

Wow, your coming right up then!! Congrats!!

I also wanted to let you know that for me it was alot easier to give up things like soda than I expected. Donuts used to be my favorite food in the world and now they are hard to eat and since I dont have them all the time I dont crave them anymore. Hopefully things will go as easy for you.

I will keep you in my thoughts!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
