Did you stop losing weight after 2 weeks postop?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 3 weeks post op and now I am not losing any weight. I gained 2 lbs thru the week but am still down 20 since my surgery. I finally lost those 2 lbs again... I am barely eating maybe 300 calories a day. I am not hungry at all and actually forget to eat. I am just wondering when I will start losing again. I am afraid they wont give me a fill since I am not hungry and barely eating anything... Uggh has this happened to anyone else?

I go for a checkup tomorrow morning. Thanks

hi, yes it happen to me, i put on 5lbs first week after the op and the surgeon and nutritionist told me i was not eating enough, cos you need to eat to lose the weight

OMG! This has been the question on my mind! I am soooooooooo thankful for this site and the people on it I could cry! I was banded 10/16 and in the 1st week lost 7lbs- I was so excited, but then things slowed down. So far since the surgery I have lost 13.8 (ignore the .8 all of a sudden decimal wt loss means something to me-lol) I have heard stories about people losing 40lbs the first month or should I say by the time they get their 1st fill which is apprx a month (for my dr anyway) so I did expect to lose about 30lbs! I am learning to be forgiving and to STAY off the scale or maybe have someone else hide it every two weeks. I am still thankful because since my preop diet I have lost 27.8lbs more than I have in such a long time and more importantly- no more joint pain and I can fit into some of my clothes now:-)

What i can say is be patient with your body, forgiving of yourself and STAY away from the scales. Keep us updated and goodluck:thumbup:

I want to make a note when you compare your weight loss to someone elses be sure to note the amount of weight that needs to be loss. We are all diff and shouldnt compare but I know we do. That said things have been going pretty steady for me but I also weighed 295 at my banding a lot more than many people I have seen. Congrats to everyone because any weight loss is great and we are all so lucky to have been able to get this tool. There are so many peopke out there who dont.

Hi,

I had my surgery Dec. 15. Lost 10 lbs. pre surgery and about 8 post surgery.

Have not lost anything for at least 10 days.

That is how I found this site by Google to get an answer to why.

I guess from what I am reading this must be common.

Hope I start loosing again.

I am eating more normal started mushy food after 1 week and now 2 1/2 half weeks progressing to more solid type and doing very good.

Just hope I start loosing again. My 1st fill will be Jan. 23.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
