ABSOLUTELY. I had mine on Oct 23, 2009. I've already lost 36lbs. I'm able to move around. I'm able to exercise. I have more energy. And biggest of all I am not hungry. I'm able to go into a restaurant and order Soup while my family pigs out on foods that I loved and it doesn't bother me anymore. The first week is a bit painful. Not over powering though. After that it's smooth sailing. It's a learning process and a definate lifestyle change. This is the most important decision I have made in my life and I would recommend it to anyone. I have tried every diet you can imagine and I've already passed what I lost in Weight Watchers. This time I will be able to keep the weight off instead of gaining it back. This is not a diet or a quick fix. You do have to work at it. The lap band is a tool to help you. And as i said it's definately a life style change for the better.

Good luck to you.

hi there, i agree with astrasmom. i had my surgery on oct 13. i haven't lost as much as she has but i have lost. i get my first fill the week after thanksgiving, so the holidays will be a bit challenging, but i will do it. right now i do get a bit hungry inbetween meals, but i stick to sugar free popcicles to get me through. i would do it again for sure. i also agree that the first week is rough, i had trouble getting up and down that week. and the spot where the port is can be sore, but i will say again, that i would do it again. and come here often. there is so many good people with good advice. good luck with your surgery.

Yes, yes, yes! It is worth it, like the others said it is not an easy fix, you still have to do your part but the band makes the dieting so much easier!!

Good luck!

I had my sg 5/28/09 and I have had some complications (port that leaked and had to be replaced) but even with all that, yes it is worth it. I am about to hit 50lbs lost and feel like I can do this now... It is work, some days are very hard, and some days you question your sanity for letting someone cut 5 holes in you to keep you from eating. But obesity is a disease and I have had it all my life, I have never been able to kick it on my own and for the first time I feel I not only can but will... Good luck to you.

In my humble opinion - whoever invented lapband should be canonized as a saint!!!!

It is only since 2nd fill and 3 months after surgery that I can say the band has truly kicked in, so be patient!!!!

WHAT ARE RESULTS WORTH TO YOU????

1. My triple chin is gone already.

2. My arms are still large, but they feel and look leaner - not all puffed out.

3. I have cheekbones and a jawline.

4. I have dropped 2 clothes sizes.

5. With the help of a spray tan I am now wearing singlet tops with confidence instead of long sleeves in summer.

6. I am motivating myself to exercise.

7. I WANT to look in the mirror and really see myself.

8. I have positive visions of my future.

9. I have a renewed interested in sex.

10. I walk tall and proud and feel like a new person.

How do you put a price on such a life change?

Everyone will have different benefits I guess, but it is ALL GOOD!!!!

Don't think twice - you may regret it.

would I do it again, yes, I did it again because my band slipped. I have lost 127 lbs and this is the only time I can say that I have been able to maintain my weight loss. Surgery for me both times have been easy. No pain at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
