Man how I love potato chips! Sour Cream & Onion potato chips to be exact!!! But now, they really hurt me. Even if I only eat, say, 5 chips. What is with that!!?? Anyone else have this problem? I know, I'm not supposed to eat potato chips, but I figure, if I only eat a few, what could it hurt? But oh does it hurt! What do you guys think?

Potato chips and ice cream are my two biggest weaknesses. I kind of wished potato chips hurt me. tee hee

Sounds like either you aren't chewing them enough or you just can't tollerate them. The band is a fickle thing. I have a problem with french fries and pretty much every kind of white potato, except chips.

be grateful - i put on weight just THINKING about them lololol

I think it is because of sharp edges on the chips, they can irritate and "scratch" on the way through - i have that problem with taco shells and corn chips

Ugh, chips. They REALLY hurt. I dont have a particular problem with them, but do fancy them when I get in a certain mood.

The main ones we have here in our house is salt and vinegar - everyone's favourite, but I particularly like lime and black pepper. I can get blocked on the more kettle style chips, but the main problem they cause me is horrendous heartburn.

Potato chips for me are like street drugs to an addict. You can keep your chocolate, ice cream and sweets. Just give me my chips. I cannot have them in the house, but if I am around them I can eat them with no problem.

When I was growing up I used to have a bag of chips in one hand and a cat in the other. Still have a cat - got rid of the chips!!

Lol, I have a cat in one hand right now Cleo's Mom!

We've got a new little kitten named Lily.

She's driving me nuts, she keeps running up the leg of my jeans (my legs are covered in scratches) and jumping on the keyboard.

And she's chasing the other two cats' tails, lol.

Maybe if I ate some chips, I could give her the crunchy bag to keep her occupied?

Count yourself lucky that chips hurt. For me they are a slider and I can eat stacks with no problem.I think I would much rather not be able to eat them at all.

I love chips!! What's a tuna sandwich without them! lol

Since I have been banded I can have 2 or 3 chips and walk away, before I wouldn't stop until I ate the whole bag.

I tried 3-5 chips and didn't have problem with them but I felt so quilty that they weren't worth it. No chips for me.

for some reason my doctor said potato chips were ok right now because i just had surgery. I tried and sadly it was almost too easy to eat chips. Thankfully chips in Korea are mostly gross so I wont be eating those often. Maybe once I get a fill they will become more uncomfortable to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
