Large amt of protein in small portions?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I finally have restriction, after almost a year, and I love not even wanting to eat, but I need to get my Protein in. I hate the Protein Shakes, but hoped someone could help me with ideas of small portions with a lot of protein. any suggestions would be a big help to me....thanks!

IF you can eat asparagus (yes, it fibrous), you can get a lot of Protein from that as well as tuna.< /p>

buy unflavored Protein powder and add it to whatever is possible. Gravy, Soup, stew, Beans, cottage cheese, oatmeal, cream of wheat, hot chocolate, etc. I'm not allowed to have Protein Shakes except after vomiting or PB and for 24 hours after a fill. Other than that I have to eat REAL protein. I can't eat a lot of it though, as it constipates me horribly. I do better with a balanced diet.

SIL and everyone, thanks for the great ideas. I use Unjury Protein and I put it in my coffee once and it was like lumps of Jello in it. What protein powder you use for your oatmeal and coffee? Thanks, everyone, for your help.

I buy champion whey Protein in vanilla and mix it with 8 ounces of Water and a crystal light packet. It tastes like a yummy cream drink. VERY tolerable!

ps... mix it with tap or cool Water and THEN refridgerate, if you want it ice cold. If you try to mix Protein with hot or very cold liquids, it does get lumpy or grainy.

Just keep the hot liquids under 130 degrees and then you can mix in the protien powder. Any hotter than that and you get the lumps. I got a cheap thermometer at the Mart and use it all the time. Now I get perfect moist chicken every time too and never have to worry if I have cooked it enough. No more over cooked dry anything. And its handy for mixing protien powder into my coffee and Soups.< /p>

I have BeneProtein, which is 6 grams of Protein per scoop with 25 calories and no carbs. It can be mixed with anything wet or mushy! I discovered this on my own and even took my nutritionist by surprise when I told her about it.

Thanks. I'm gonna google that and see where I can get it. I had to have a 1.5 cc unfill yesterday, so I am on liquids right now, but I will need the additional Protein soon.

When was your last fill? I guess what I am asking is how long after your last fill did it take to know you needed an unfill?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
