I support 100% Health Care Reform, this is only the beginning it will continue to be a fight. The sellouts GOP/Insurance companies will continue to whine as they did when Social Security and Medicare first came into being. They fought long and hard to defeat these two ideas also. I have a question where would your Parents and Grandparents have been without these to systems?

They are still screaming this morning that this is not what Americans want. They are assuming that because they didn't want it, the majority of Americans didn't want it. The Rush Limbaughs, Glenn Becks, Ann Coulters and all the maniacs on the internet who are helping to incite hatred have done a job on a lot of Americans, but I do not think that they have convinced the MAJORITY of Americans that we didn't need a drastic change in our health care system.

The thing that they've accomplished is to put fear in Americans, fear and distrust of the government. They have gone so far as to incite someone to throw money at a man disabled with Parkinsons, call Barney Frank a faggot, spit on a congressman and yell nigger at black people. And these are only the few incidents that were recorded on video. No telling what all really went on out of camera range. Unfortunately by inciting this kind of anger, it is going to take a long time for Americans to sort out their feelings on this.

It may effect the upcoming elections, but in the long run I hope that people will endorse a party that is willing to work on the very difficult problems that we have in America. The Republicans refused to take care of them when they were the majority party. They took us into a war that was unfounded and cost thousands of our own Americans' deaths. They believe in keeping everything deregulated in business - including the health insurance industry.

Our health care system is broken for millions and millions of Americans. It has failed them. They have either not been able to get the kind of health care they need or they have (after paying premiums) paid out of their own pocket for treatments and in many cases that caused them to lose their homes and other things that they worked long and hard to get.

The Republicans let us down. The Republicans endorse corporate greed and making middle and low income Americans pay a higher price for everything they get. They have put themselves in this situation and the MAJORITY of Americans finally get it. That's why we threw the bums out and if the MAJORITY of Americans vote them back in, then they will be ignoramuses that get what they deserve.

It seems to me that Americans have taken enough of a beating that they will not make that same mistake again. Unless of course, the Republicans pull the same crap they pulled in the 2000 election and rig the vote and it doesn't matter how the MAJORITY of Americans vote anyway.

Then just make sure that you and those in your family who feel the same way do not accept social security or medicare. And no it isn't "your money" that you paid in. You will receive more in benefits than you put in. So reject SS and medicare because it is socialism.

And BTW, it wasn't socialism that brought this economy to the brink of disaster and near collapse - it was greedy corporate capitalism.

I take issue with the characterization that Social Security and Medicare are socialism.

We have a say in these issues. We elect representatives and a president who do the work that we want done. It is why the government was structured the way it is - to give the people a say in what our government does. And the majority of people elected the politicians who have worked on this bill and caused it to be passed. They're doing what we asked them to do. They didn't lie about it. They didn't hide the educational part of it.

If you are not aware of what is in a bill, it is incumbent upon you to find out what is. Then you need to make your ideas and wishes known to the your representatives in congress as well as to inform your president. If they do not do what you want, you will get an opportunity to vote them out. Unless of course YOU are in the minority and the candidate you like does not get elected by the majority.

It's how this country rolls...

The most socialist form of health care is right here in the United States. It's called the Veterans Administration. The buildings are owned by the government, so is the equipment, the people that work there are government employees. There is no co-pay because there is no insurance to file. You go there, they see you, they treat you. There is no over ordering of tests because the Doctor gets paid the same no matter what test he orders. Health care ran by the government, pure and simple.

One of my favorite things to say is when someone says something negative about "socialist medicine", I usually ask "So what do you have against the VA?" They have no idea how to respond, because after 9/11 criticizing the military is off limits.
