Sharp burning pain in middle of stomach....

Recommended Posts

I have been experiencing pain right in the middle of my stomach...about 2-3 inches to the right of my port. It happens when I have been sitting for a while and get up...or when I am bending and stooping..like cleaning or getting the clothes out of the dryer...if I take it easy when I first notice it..it goes away..but when it first started happening I kept on and would end up in EXTREME pain. Well I have kinda learned to adjust to it and ease off when it starts happening...so when I went for a follow up with my surgeon last week, I mentioned it but said it was getting managable and he said if it starts to get bad again..to let him know and he will do some workups to see what it could be. (I was banded 07/15/09 and have only had one fill...didnt feel like I needed one this past week when I went).

My question is..has anyone experienced this pain..right in the middle of your stomach...and found it to be scar tissue or something about a stitch pulling?? Just wondering. It was hurting today again pretty good and just isnt normal..so I am going to call my doctor this coming week and go ahead and set up appt so we can get to the bottom of it...cause I don't believe I should be in pain like this when I try to do things...

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!:w00t:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
