I am so surprised by the differences in the way surgeons fill bands. I started with 2.5 cc and had just 1 cc added this week. I see here that some people get 5 or 6 ccs in the first fill. I realizes every doc and patient is different, but that is a BIG difference. I feel very little restriction and I have NO will power. (Wouldn't have been 289 if I did.) I hope my second fill puts the restriction and loss into gear. I am down almost 25 in a month though. My band is 12ccs. The PA said i will never be that full, that they only fill patients who are banded over bypass, b/c they need the extra reminder. UGH!

It's unlikely (though possible) that you will need to be filled to the full capacity of your band.

They fill slowly to avoid complications - and the difference between being "just right" and "too tight" really can be the difference of .25 cc.

It's frustrating (I know!) and tiring to have to wait for the perfect restriction . . . but you're not alone and one day, you'll get there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
