Second fill..what a difference!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I had my second fill last wednesday (10/28) and what a difference! In two ways....1. this one hurt WAAAAAAY less...not at all actually. So i'm no longer nervous about getting a fill (i'm terrified of needles)...and 2. I can totally feel good restriction. Can't do bread, anything really dry, or steak anymore and that's FINE by me! I'm just so happy to FEEL differently.

Now just to work on my workouts...:cursing: They've definately not been what they should be....but that changed as of today!:)

What fill did you all feel a real difference?

whoo hoo! Good to know!

I go for my second fill this Monday. What capacity is your band, and how much did they fill it to this time?

Right now I'm not feeling too restricted, so I'm looking forward to having this one done.

My first fill didn't hurt at all. Didn't they numb you at all the first time?

I have a large 14cc AP band....my first fill was 5cc's and i felt a slight difference for about 2-3 weeks...then i could definately eat a good amount again...but this time, I can't eat bread (i didn't have a lot before but since the fill i've tried ONE piece and no deal), steak or anything too dry whereas it wasn't an issue before....i feel it sooner, i'm full longer, and that's the whole point! :cursing:

Yes, he did numb me, but he only gave me one shot of lidocane last time...this time i had two..i think also because i was still healing and tender last time, the lidocane only took the edge off. This time, NO PAIN AT ALL! WOOHOO! Plus it was a smaller needle and he didn't have to push down even close to as much as he did the first fill...yay for being smaller!

What's your band size?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
