The oddest thing happend. I have been quite ill with a cold. about 3 days ago my right side below my ribcage started hurting and continued to hurt pretty bad for about 3 days. This morning I woke up and the pain had almost gone away. I have been quite bloated/gassy sorry about the tmi but can't figure out the pain. My first though is gall blader. pain radiated to my back. a heating pad helped. Felt like bad gas pains but in a odd place. I thought gall bladder because of the system but most of my reading said it comes and goes and this was consistent for 3 days. I had a fill on the 28th. I just don't see how it could be band related but you never know.

Hi Greg:

You should call your doctor. Either your primary, or your band doctor. My band doctor wants us to call if there's anything going on between our chins and our knees, so if it were me I'd call my band doctor.

I know someone who had constant pain with their gallbladder because it was badly infected. My gallstones pain was intermitent.

Please let us know how you make out.

Take care.

Sue

I have also had that same pain for about the last week. I went in for a fill this past Friday. i showed the tech where it hurt and how tender the area is. I told him that I thought it was maybe the tubing..LOL...Then he tells me there is no tubing there..Asked if the pain radiated to my back, NO, not really, more like a sudden spasm in the upper middle part of my back. Right sided headaches and nausea, but I have been associating the nausea with the lap band..When he felt the area he stepped back a little and said ( u don't ever want to hear this from a medical proffesional) WOW!OH MY!!

He asked if I still had my gall bladder, Yes I do, the he told me to take it easy this weekend and keep an eye on things. OK.. Call Monday if no change or go to ER if it gets worse. Well fortunatly, the pain has not gotten any worse, thank God. I really didn't want to spend any time in the Er..I will be calling first thing in the morning though just to see what the doc. has to say. I have learned that ALOT of bariatric patients end up having gall bladder problem and eventually have them removed. Supposedly due to the "shock" of loosing weight, as if weighing as much as a baby elephant wasn't more of a shock..LOL..Anyway thats what I was told, and I have only lost 19lbs since my surgery in June 2009...I hope everything is fine with you, and let us know what ur doc. says, I will def. let you know what mine says.:w00t:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
