Back after A long Six months

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody~

Some of you may know or remember me but it's been a while since I've been on here so here it goes. Had Surgery April 2009 was doing what I would call as "fair", losing weight, eating correct portions, Protein first exercising 5days a week... and All.

Then in August go in for appt with surgeon for normal check up and I had been feeling nausea but I thought nothing big... well they always have you do pregnancy test if LMP was not within last 10 days since my fills are done with fluro come to find out I am Pregnant.. WOW !!! lets just say we were not expecting that what a shocker we are thinking so we decide to keep it then after 3 months found out it was an etopic pregnancy so I lost the baby... going through lots of emotions as some of you may imagine. Time heals everything so I have come to accept and move on..

I am ready to get back on track.. I have managed to lose and maintain 30 pounds loss and with me being 3 months of it pregnant I am okay with that...just feeling like I need some tips and rules anything with some inspiration that has helped any of you when you were on that feeling down bus.. just needing to know where to start I feel so out of touch...

I am hoping by my one year I can lose at least another 50pounds.. Help a sista out.. Thanks for letting me vent.

Lapbandgirl, first off welcome back! Secondly, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

You can do this, you have the tool, use it!! I would think that 50 pounds is doable!

Keep us posted!

Hello, Sorry about your loss. I was also banded April 15th 09. I think you're still doing great, take it one day at a time. Do you think you need a fill? If so go in to see the dr. I'm down about 38lbs so you're doing great and it takes time everyone is different with their weight loss, I flucuate (misspell) I can't seem to break 250 lb.. But I'm going to keep exercising and working on it. Start back reading the post, I get a lot of inspiration from hearing from others. Hang in there and trust God...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
