I know I'm just a 'band baby' LOL, but would love to know what a fill feels like (even though I'm not due to have one until the middle of December). I do know my doc does it under fluoroscopy at the hospital so he can see what he's doing (which is comforting), but I'm not sure what to expect.

What's weird now is I can feel my port now from the outside if I touch my belly. VERY odd at first, but I guess I'll get used to it.

Not a thing to worry about I promise.

I barely feel it. In fact, when I got my first fill they told me not to look, although I'm not squeamish about needles, I didn't look since they told me not to, and I thought, man, wouldn't I feel stupid if I passed out. I felt the least little pinch, and I assumed it was a lydocaine shot. I was totally surprised that it was the fill needle. It turns out they don't even do a numbing shot.

Often a nerve in the area is deadened, (not sure if they do it on purpose or if it's just a happy accident). I can tell mine was because if I scratch right over my port, there's little or no sensation, but I can feel it if I scratch around it. I'm sure that doesn't mean it'll be painful if you do have feeling there, but I would think it must help.

I've had three fill and none of them hurt. My doc numbs the area first then inserts the fill needle.

While he is filling he has me drink the barium to see it go through the band. This way he knows if I have enough fill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
