I think people worry more about the exercising now that we are banded because they see the amount of food that most can only eat at one time and they worry that the exercise is far exceeding the amount of food we seem to be consuming. I was only heavy for about 10 years, prior to that I was always extremely thin. I was at the gym 6-7 days a week and no one said anything about it. But they would see me down a steak, potato, and salad for a meal. Maybe that's the difference? I know that is what my mom and dad worry about. Who knows?

I have a friend who has never been over weight who runs religiously. I don't think she is obsessed, but she loves it and she does it 4 to 7 times a week. I always wonder about people who act "worried" about us. Are they actually afraid you won't gain back the weight so they can say "I told you so"? I lost weight a couple years ago on a Liquid Protein diet, and people in my small town started saying things like "Wow are you just going to disappear"? Or "Are you sure this is healthy"? I am sure it will happen this time too. Oh well!!

Time is a tremendous healer, I think you will realize you are actually in control now and you will gradually stop being so fearful. Best of good wishes, and Congrats on your loss.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
