Tink 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Hi everyone. I just got home from having the surgery. I'm exhausted so I will write more tomorrow, but the one thing wanted to ask about is swelling. I didn't notice it while I was in teh hospital, but now that I'm home, I'm noticing that I am very swollen. Is this normal? I don't see it listed in any of my literature. Thanks! Time to love me 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Welcome home Tink and congrats! I hope your recovery goes well for you. I can't really give advice on the swelling from this surgery, because I am not banded yet. I can tell you that every time I"ve had surgery on the abdomen area, I've always had some sort of swelling. Best of luck to you
the best me 6 Posted October 16, 2005 Yep, swelling is normal. You were just pumped full of fluids and gas. It goes away. Hey! Welcome to bandland! Congrats!!
Anwyn 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Welcome home and congratulations! When I got home I had a new band and 11 pounds of Water weight from the fluids they pumped in. It went away pretty quickly. Feel better soon!

Corgi 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Congratulations! I was swollen for about 10 days, my tummy area, then it gradually went away. I didn't experience gas pains like a lot of others did, but hang in, it does get better!
Bungle69 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Swollen and delayed gas pains for me. I am on Day 7 of being banded and had my worst gas pains yet! I was at church and was laughing quite heartily at my 2 year old singing, mouth wide open some religous tunes, when quite soon after that I thought someone had stuck an ice pick in my collar bone. I know that folks always talk about gas pain in the left shoulder blade, but realize it can also be in the collar bone area too !!! Hang in there and feel better!!
