PrincipalsOffice 16 Posted November 4, 2009 Im on a few medications for a chronic disease, unrelated to weight, etc. I am very afraid that my medications will get "stuck" after I have the band. I take 16 of these capsules a day, approx. size is the "metal" tip end of a pencil (not including the eraser). I showed the capsule to my surgeon and he did not seem too concerned, but.... I am! Anyone have any problems with meds going down?
SuzanneG 1 Posted November 4, 2009 I've have trouble with that sometimes. Just be sure to space them apart if you can. I also always drink something warm before I start to help relax my band.
PrincipalsOffice 16 Posted November 4, 2009 Thanks! The surgeon doesnt seem too concerned, but I can't open these like other capsules or the medication wont work like it's supposed to. I see you are in Spotsy - strange coincidence - I work in Spotsy!
nkara 0 Posted November 4, 2009 my nutritionist told me I would never be able to take whole pills again. she said to crush the pills to take them from now on or get liquid or chewable.< /p>
ffpandamer 0 Posted November 4, 2009 Most medications are available in a suspension (liquid) form. Search the web to see if your drug is available that way. If you're truly worried, I am sure your doctors will work with you to get you the liquid meds and allay your fears  GL!
happy2lose 0 Posted November 4, 2009 I asked my pcp to change my capsule meds to pill form which he gladly did for me.

LSF 264 Posted November 4, 2009 I find that pills go down much easier at night when my band is looser. I'm too tight in the mornings to take anything.
frenchvanilla 0 Posted November 4, 2009 I was told to never take pills again unless they are crushed

LSF 264 Posted November 5, 2009 I can take Tylenol, Advil etc..., I did have a problem with a certain brand of Iron pill because it wasn't disolving fast enough and would always get stuck. I just don't take the horse pill size Vitamins anymore, I switched to chewables. I also keep liquid Tylenol on hand just in case I'm too tight for pills. And I make sure to have liquid cold medicine on hand like Nyquil since It's easier to get down.
SuzanneG 1 Posted November 5, 2009 My doc said nothing bigger than an M&M. I too keep liquid cold medicine and liquid ibuprophen on hand.
