Day 5 and counting... whew, I wish I could of mentally prepared myself for the aftermath a little better but oh well, it's done and i'm dealing with it.

They had to "blow up" my stomach and chest to be able to "work in there" -- that alone is terrible. Oh the pain!

As George Lopez say's: I HABIT A PAINS IN MY CHESS!!

Ohhh how i miss chewing my food. LOL

the gas pain will disappear - it was pretty bad for me too. walking it off is the best way, you can also use gas x strips and sometimes a heating pad will help. it will get better. i had my surgery 6 months ago and have lost 80 pounds. the liquid stage is the worst. hope you feel better soon.

Wow! 80lbs in 6 months. What exercise routine are you following? What's your diet like? I will be banded on the 10th. I am looking forward to get some pounds off so I can exercise with less pain.

sadly, my exercise has been very limited. last year i got injured and shattered my knee, broke my leg and damaged my spine by the impact of my fall shoving my hipbone into my thighbone so i was in a wheelchair for most of the year and i have serious serious problems w/ my spine so the only exercise i am able to do right now is Water aerobics which i highly recommend and that's it. even walking the gas pain off after the surgery was an ordeal b/c i had to use a walker and have someone with me. diet wise, i only drink fat free milk and Water, i eat a lot of Protein - cottage cheese, scrambled eggs. i eat black Beans - really any Beans except baked beans. i eat a lot of fish, tuna, tilapia, flounder - i use citrus on everything i do so i will use black pepper, zest from a lemon, lime and orange w/ a tiny bit of balsamic vinegar on my tilapia and it's great. that's really it. my dr said Protein is the key - my metabolism had really slowed down - i'm in my 40's - so he said if i was desperate and really starving to eat protein. i haven't had a fill for over 2.5 months b/c i had a major oral surgery that shut down my ability to eat for a while so i just did chocolate unjury shakes but now that i am able to eat again, i really need a fill. all in all, best decision i ever made. good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
