So here I am out here livin' the Lap Band life a lot like my old life just a lot less food. There are foods I can't eat like bread or chicken in certain forms. So I'm going about my daily life and wake up one morning and bam! Breakfast gets stuck -I toss it up and drink Water the next few hours then try to have lunch- Bam again- stuck! I hadn't had anything get stuck in a long time and it comes up on you like surprise!!! I'm still here band.... Does anyone have times during the day that the band seem tighter? Or have you gone thru this where you get really excited to eat something and it gets stuck?

I always seem to have trouble with breakfast. I get up a 6:30 in the AM. I usually have a Carnation Instant Breakfast drink. If I try to drink it at 7:30, I can barely get it down and sometimes it comes back up. But, if I wait till 8:30 I can drink it with no real problem. I just joke that my band likes to sleep "all curled up around my stomache". Then, once it wakes up and stretches a bit, there is more room.

I don't know the medical explanation...but you are not alone.

Yes, I do experience what you describe. I just had a fill on Friday and my band is so tight I can't comfortable eat until early evening. I expect as the swelling in the stomach goes down that I will be able to eat with ease again.

Keep in mind that once you get stuck and toss your food, you should finish that day with only liquids because your stomach will swell and you will not be able to successfully eat a meal.

Same here. I can usually eat comfortably in the evening. Breakfast is almost always a no-go unless it's liquid, and lunch varies from day to day. Today is a no lunch day. I just tried a couple of bites of my Chinese beef and veggies and no luck. I'm sure I'll be able to eat dinner this evening though, or at least have a snack later in the afternoon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
