how do i fix this weakness

Recommended Posts

Ok so I know where my biggest problem is and I would like some advice on how to rectify this issue. I am 4 months post op and I have only lost 22 lbs, I live with my boyfriend and my 11y/o daughter. I am very good through out the week while I'm working my boyfriend and I work opposite shifts, so I work days he works even/nights.

He is very thin and muscular, and he works out all the time, now the problem is, that he eats whatever he want, whenever he wants, and as much as he wants. So on the weekends he always wants to order out or go out to eat, or when he goes shopping he buys total junk food.

I stick to a very strict diet throughout the week, but on the weekends i struggle so much I always end up being bad and eating things I shouldn't or more then I should, so I always gain back the couple lbs that I lost throughout the week, and then the next week I am struggling to lose them again. Plleeeeease help me, I don't know what to do, and I feel bad asking him to not eat the way he does because I know he is always trying to gain weight and bulk up because he lifts weights all the time and it is difficult for him to even put on 1 or 2 lbs, I am in opposites hell right now!!!!!!!!!!

Dont take this the wrong way, but it seems like your boyfriend is trying to sabotage your diet. Maybe he is feeling a little insecure about you losing weight and looking good. Thats understandable, but for him to bring home junk food knowing that its a struggle for you to resist it, seems really unfair to you. Why dont you sit him down and explain to him how this makes you feel and if he loves you and respects your wishes, he will eat his junk food somewhere other than your home. Which by the way, is unhealthy for him to binge as well on the weekends and that garbage isnt good for your 11 yr old to eat eaither. Good luck

I totally agree with most of lipstix's post, although, I would give the bf the benefit of the doubt until you've sat down and had a heart to heart talk to him about how much harder this is for you when he's bringing home junk food over the weekend. What you said in your post about the difficulties you're having is the perfect opening. He may not even be aware the effect his weekend eating habits is having on you, so don't feel the least bit guilty about asking him to make a few changes to help you. Ultimately, this is for your longterm health. Having WLS and living with a band is not something you've done on a whimsy, and you deserve the best possible environment (at least in your home and with your bf) to make it work. You could also ask him, if you haven't already, to help you start a light weightlifting/cardio program, so that the two of you could work out together on the weekends.

Another very important point that lipstix made is that this isn't good for your child either, especially a child with at least one obese parent. It's important for both of you to role model good eating habits, which in my opinion can include "junk food" on occasion, but not as an every weekend occurrence. Good luck, and I hope you're able to work this out with your bf so that you're working together to get healthy and that you have a long, happy and active life together.

If your boyfriend is trying to bulk up, he should be doing it with Proteins, not junk food. Why don't you find out what healthy foods he likes (steak, shrimp, veffies, etc) and plan your weekend menu around that. There a plenty of good tasting healthy foods.

Good luck.

I would take up his sort of exercise program. I find with regular cardio and strength training, the overall trend was down with my weight (now I maintain) and a bit extra on the weekends doesnt affect my weight at all.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
