I'm wondering the same thing. I have my second nutritoin appointment on Monday and the scale has gone up and down the last 3 weeks. They gave me a 1,000-1,200 calorie a day diet to follow similar to weight watchers and my results have been only 4 pounds. I've added 35 minutes of activity 5 days a week. I'm so afraid they are going to make me wait. Does anyone have any input?

Hey I am NC also, where is sea level at? I had to see the nutri. twice, because when I went to see her the first time she put in her notes that she did not think I would change my eating habits, therefore, I had to see her a second time which I was billed for to tell her that I am going follow the advice that she recommend. After the second appointment, I went to the GNC store and got a Protein shake (Lean Body) and began taking that and watching what I ate. I actually lost about 10 lbs. pre-op. Don't give up...

My surgeron is well known as being the Soup nazi of medicine. No surgery for you! I did ok but it does happen. Ideally you want your BMI under 50 for surgery because it lessens the chance of complications dramatically so that can be one reason a surgery gets postponed.

Best wishes to you JTSOBX. I'm hoping it all works out well for you. Have courage.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
