Need help with Stage 2 foods

Recommended Posts

I am starting the stage 2 diet today (mushy). I wanted to know what types of fish that I am allowed to eat? Is Salmon one of them?

Also can someone give me an idea of the types of things to put on my shopping list for stage 2. I do have my list from the doctor but it's not really specific on the types of things that you can eat and it has only a few examples of menus.

Thanks for your advice.

Really, almost any fish should be fine. I eat a fair amount of salmon and have from the day I was told I could have fish. Also, we like flounder and tilapia at my house.

I am in week 5, and am enjoying getting back to "regular" food. One of my favorites was cooked vegetables, like 1/2 cup Broccoli or peas, 1-2 oz of tuna (or other canned fish/chicken/meat/tofu), and about 1 tbls light mayo (salt and pepper to taste). Quick and easy microwave dish at work. You can Google Tuna and Broccoli recipes and make a decent baked dish as well. Although I normally like "crisp" vegi's, during the mushy stage I cooked them down, diced them very small, and the resulting mixture after the microwave, was very soft indeed.

The only fish the wife will buy for me is Tilapia, granted its the only fish she likes so I guess thats what I'm stuck with.

I would also add any Soup you like and just blend the crap out of it.

I also have a fondess for Applesauce.

This week, still week 3, I'm just started Lunchables.

As I currently eat it, seems to be going down good so far.

Thank you so much for your ideas. I did pick up a few things yesterday. Last night I had broiled flounder which tasted so good since I haven't had any real food for a month now.

My doc said, whatever my family eats, just blend it and make it a little more sloppier which I did, saved me heaps because I didn't have to go buy just for me, but in saying that I had alot of mashed pumpkin with gravy - Also one word of advice - Don't blend chicken, it tastes chalky lol

Turkey burger patties. Jennie-O 93/7 fat. Fry your patty in a pan. Use Pam cooking spray on the pan first. These burgers are very soft. and boil the heck out of some veggies, green Beans.. cauliflower..broccoli..whatever you like! make it super soft. Melt some mozz cheese on the patty.. Good Protein--low calorie meal.

PS: Isn't my dog the cutest!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
