Recommended Posts

I was baned Oct 1st. My port is on the left side about 1 in above my belly button.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I was banded on Oct. 19th and my port is just a little to the left of the bottom of my sternum. Still a little sore once in awhile but it's getting better everyday.

I think mine is on the lower left side of my abdomen.. that's where it has been tender... haven't had a fill yet and don't really want to poke around. I know mine said he puts them all in the same place and the other girl I met pointed in that area for hers.

I didn't get any kind of card either...

I was banded on Oct 29th. My port is on my upper left side and is still sore when I get up and down or bend. I am waiting for all this bloating to be over with though but then I heard you enter Bandster hell so maybe not lol! Oh and I got the Realize band and a card from then with the info on it.

I was also banded on 10/29/09. My tummy is still bloated and the port area is too tender for me to poke much. It's on the left, about 1/3 up from the belly button (tho it looks like the right when I look down on it - I'm directionally challenged). The surgeon said he was going to try and reuse my gallbladder scars if possible but I can't tell. I didn't get a card either.

Banded 10/23 and my port is on the left right under my rib cage. Also if you go to lapband.com you can get a lapband card to carry with you.

Mine is in my belly button on the left side. I have had 3 fills and the dr. easily finds the port for the fill.

Mine is on the left beneath my rib-cage. Funny... I just assumed everyone's was! I can feel mine at the surface as well. It is the strangest feeling. I do not like it. When I lay on my side I always tuck my feather pillow underneath it, because I am afraid I will accidently dis-lodge it. LOL

Although I feel this surgery is the best thing I have ever done... It is very strange knowing that there is something permantly implanted inside of you.

Hi Hairstylist - my doctor looked at my gallbladder scars and said he'd try to use them for the lapband op. It wouldn't have occurred to me to ask!

The note book my doctor sent me home with had surgical information kit inside the notebook. This kit had a card to fill out and mail in and it tells that I have had surgery , also asks restaurants to allow me to order from the childrens menu due to my surgery.

The 3 ring binder I received had sooooo much information and it was like my "owner's manual" for the lap band .. What to expect , what to eat .. everything ..

I believe my port is above my belly button and just a tiny bit to the right. I didnt get a card or anything? What is the card for? I have the Realize band does that matter?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
