Pressure fill

Recommended Posts

I just had my third fill a few weeks ago as a 'boost' and my surgeon chose to do a pressure fill that is done using a computer to gauge the pressure in the band instead of just using the fluoroscope visual. I am WAY too tight ... just wondering if anyone else has had same/similar experiences with the pressure fill?

And yes, once I am over H1N1, I am going back in to have it adjusted.

I had a pressure fill a few months ago because I had already gone over the max fill level in my Realize band. I wish I had paid closer attention to the amount of pressure he said he took me to with a .5 cc fill, but I believe it was in the 40s (not that the figure means anything to me anyway..lol) and have approximately 11cc in my 9cc band. He said he had a few other patients that had to have that amount of pressure for good restriction. That fill did the trick though...thank goodness...since that was the end of the line for me.

I'm sorry to hear you ended up with a overfill and that you're fighting H1N1 on top of it. I either had the flu or a terrible cold a couple of weeks ago, and I know the sinus congestion left me a little tighter, but not so much I felt too restricted. Hopefully, you'll loosen up a little bit once you're feeling better, even if you do end up needing a little unfill too.

(I live in the Richmond area too. Who is your doctor? Mine is Brengman.)

I was WAY too tight before my bout with the pig! I was trying to ride it out, but when Soup makes me feel plugged up, it is too much. I have never had restriction to date ... maybe this is what it is supposed to feel like?

And yes .. I am Brengman, too!

You sound too tight to me too. Once I got my last fill, I was still able to eat almost all foods (from steak to breads), but three 1/2 cup meals plus a healthy snack keep me satisfied all day. That was my expectation with the band.

I had decent restriction before, but there was no way those small meals would keep me satisfied, and I was snacking to make up the difference. It just took .5 cc to get me to my sweet spot, so sometimes all you need is just a little adjustment either up or down when you're getting close to having optimal restriction. I hope you're able to get in soon to get your small unfill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
