Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong. I had surgery on Sept 24 and since the surgery I've only lost 4.5 lbs. I am so discouraged because I've been sticking to my 3 oz of Protein, drinking 60 grams of Protein Drink and trying to drink Water in between. I usually walk the tract 30 minutes which I was advised at least 4 to 5 times a week. And still no weight loss. I was due for a fill this past Tuesday, but they cancelled and I can't get the PA to call me back for a refill. I'm usually not a confrontational person, but I am pissed and will be voicing my concerns tomorrow.

What am I doing wrong to not lose any weight. I'm begining to doubt this procedure and why did I do this and put myself through this if I can't lose. I truly feel just like eating what I want and the hell with it. Excuse my language but I'm frustrated.

Anybody got any suggestions or advise or is this common?

I'm sorry that you're having trouble, but it will get better once you start getting restriction from your fills, which I understand are getting off to a slow start. Although, a lot of doctors like to wait a full six weeks for the first fill. It sounds like you're going to have to be the squeaky wheel to get on the schedule again. I'd be like you and calling first thing Monday morning. The band isn't helping you much until you get to your proper fill level. It will probably take more than one fill, but each one helps. (Or you might be lucky and get great restriction right off the bat. It happens occasionally, but don't get discouraged if it doesn't).

I was a little unclear about your diet. How many ounces of Protein are you eating per day vs. drinking? If you're drinking 60 grams of Protein via Protein shakes, you're probably taking in too many liquid calories. Once you're healed and off of soft foods, you should be getting the majority of your protein from good solid foods which helps you stay satiated between meals and with fewer calories than the shakes contain (unless you've been directed otherwise by your doctor).

Good luck with your call tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
