I won't lie....it was rough! My doctor required clears for the first week. Full liquids the second, mushies the 3rd, soft foods the 4th and ease into regular food after that. So, I drank lots of Gatorade 2, watered down apple juice, Water, chicken broth....I think I had 1 or 2 lemon italian ices. Jello was allowed but bothered me a bit so I passed on that. What would 5% be for you in terms of numbers?

Every doc is different. I know my surgeon cancels the surgery--my date was actually given to me a week in advance due to a cancellation for just that reason.

Just think this isn't even an option -- like Nicole said, you can do this!! Good luck to you!!!

Don't let this hinder your motivation...but I didn't lose the weight and they still did my surgery with no problem. You might want to just call them and ask. But still, its a good idea to at least try and lose SOME weight.

Hey Neener I think you can at least give it the best try you can. I am sure that if you at least show them you are trying that's what's important. I know for my current 6 mo supervised diet, I am having to write down everything I eat. The journal sits right by my chair so I have no excuse to use it. Throw all the candy, Cookies and anything else that tempts you out the door. That will be the biggest help. I don't go away from the table hungry I just eat MORE veggies (lots of big mixed salads and hot fresh steamed veggies), fruit, chicken and brown rice. We have steak, hamburgers minus the Buns, sandwiches with those new thin buns by Oroweat I think it is. Soups are really filling and low calorie (however may be high sodium), they are easy to take to work or school and just heat in a micro. I also am adding a scoop of whey Protein in my coffee each morning (chocolate) and honestly it helps keep me satisfied for a few hours. I always have my 3 meals a day and a snack bar etc in between, so I am eating at least every 2-4 hours something, keeps me from getting that "starving" feeling where I start grabbing anything in site. I keep a big basket of only 100 calorie Snacks, raisins, popcorn (100 c), Protein Bars and snack bars on the kitchen counter so I have no excuse there, just have to grab something. Oh and I use Slim Fast also in between or replacement. I started this diet with being able to have 2000 calories a day, which is a lot to me know. I am down to probably 1400-1500 daily now after 3 months and doing good. I have lost a total of 20 lbs. This month won't be as much as I am honestly trying to take it slower, so as not to fall below the acceptable BMI for insurance purposes. These were all hints from the nutritionist and psych.

YOU CAN DO IT.:scared2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
